WHAT WE DO:

In a state where cattle outnumber people, the Idaho beef industry is an integral part of local communities and the economy of Idaho. The Idaho Beef Council is a consumer-focused, producer-directed organization representing Idaho's multigenerational ranchers. We help provide education to the consumers on behalf of these families to help build awareness and express the importance of the process. We also engage in activities that demonstrate that beef is not only delicious, but is a powerful ally in building healthy bodies, thriving communities, and a strong economy for Idahoans.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

The Business to Consumer Marketing Specialist (B2C Specialist) reports to and collaborates with the Idaho Beef Council (IBC) Program Manager (PM). The B2C Specialist will also closely collaborate with the Business-to-Business Marketing Specialist (B2B Specialist) to lead marketing activities in the IBC Marketing Plan’s Consumer programs. The B2C Specialist will develop and coordinate logistics, communications, and other activities to build and maintain networks of key partner organization and individual stakeholders to target consumers and increase the demand for Idaho beef. The B2C Specialist will develop marketing materials, presentations, and events to effectively meet Consumer Program annual plan goals and objectives. These include, but are not limited to educational, promotional, and informational material and event planning, development, delivery, and measurement across multiple channels and formats: print, digital, social, broadcast, e-communications, and more. 

The B2C Specialist implements strategies according to IBC’s approved annual market plan to promote and increase demand for beef products for beef stakeholders. The B2C Specialist works within a team environment to develop and execute projects to achieve specific outcomes and impacts as outlined in the Performance Monitoring Plan (PMP). The B2C Assistant establishes and reports on Consumer Program monitoring metrics and succinctly translates findings in well-written and complete documentation. Conducts and communicates ongoing market analysis and reporting in partnership with IBC staff, including emerging trends, challenges, and other measures to achieve the IBC’s vision and mission.    

The B2C Specialist is both business-minded, consumer-minded, and creative. The B2C Specialist determines targets, budgets, and strategies for education, training, communication, and promotion activities under IBC’s Consumer Program categories on behalf of the Board of Directors and the Idaho Beef Industry. As part of the Program Team, the B2C Specialist develops and coordinates these efforts successfully and within deadlines. The B2C Specialist liaises with target audiences to monitor, plan, and implement consumer category promotions, craft promotional materials, press releases, media communications, website content, social media content, etc.   The B2C Specialist has excellent written and oral communication skills to represent the Idaho beef industry at the highest level possible. The B2C Specialist develops and maintains networks and positive relationships with consumer target groups, media, and others. The B2C Specialist works in partnership with IBC team members to coordinate special events, represent the IBC in meetings and other events, and participate in speaking engagements, as needed. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

Marketing Plan  

  • Participates in the development and implementation of the IBC Marketing Plan, including events, campaigns, promotions, and other activities in the consumer program.  
  • Maintains and manages category calendar of events, promotions, and other marketing activities.  
  • Builds and maintains relationships and communications with a variety of stakeholders and target populations for the consumer program.  
  • Collaborates with IBC staff and partner organization team members (eg, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Idaho Cattle Association, and others) to promote activities, build online presence, generate reports, and manage marketing communications.  
  • Leads consumer communications inputs for Quarterly and Annual Reports, and collaborates with the PM, CEO, and other IBC personnel, for consumer program communications. 
  • Builds and maintains vendor relationships for events, campaigns, promotions, and other activities as outlined in the Marketing Plan’s consumer program.  
  • Tracks progress, achievements, and cost-effectiveness of consumer category marketing activities (sponsorships, promotions, partnerships, and other direct and indirect marketing strategies) with an eye for continuous improvement. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on consumer program communications and marketing campaign effectiveness and results (metrics including inputs, outputs, and impact).  
  • Attends IBC Board and consumer related meetings to report and communicate consumer program-related information as needed and requested. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Materials and Messages Development    

  • Contributes content for publication in IBC newsletters, press releases, articles, program evaluations, annual reports, and alerts with PM team.  
  • Develops and manages consumer targeted digital marketing and promotion efforts including website content and site management, social media platforms, influencers, content calendar, content development and execution, scheduling, and results analytics reporting compared to target goals.  
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements pertinent online meetings through virtual meeting platforms.  
  • Creates a wide range of marketing materials in line with marketing strategy plans.  
  • Works with marketing, design, and other agencies contracted by IBC, as required.  
  • Plans, organizes, and implements consumer program promotional campaigns.  
  • Effectively and creatively contributes to website content and enhancements in line with marketing strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:     

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, business, or related business fields from an accredited college or university with a minimum of three years in a B2C and/or project management position. IBC will consider an Associate's level degree in a business related field and at least five years of experiences in a B2C or similar position.  
  • Strong leadership and communications skills will be important to both collaborate and assist in management of consumer category marketing strategies. 
  • Experience in beef or other agriculture or food commodity association program management is preferred. 
  • Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects, priorities, and audiences.  
  • Understanding of social media algorithms, metrics, and engagement drivers.  
  • Demonstrated successful project management should include a range of duties from assisting design and launch to successful conclusion.  
  • The ability to quickly develop working knowledge of the beef industry, beef consumers, and topics of interest to support IBC activities.  
  • Consistently demonstrates integrity, fidelity, and model behavior. Conveys a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the IBC. Exhibits team player characteristics and acts with the highest levels of integrity and ethics. 
  • Ability to assist in the development of strategies and tactics to boost IBC’s effectiveness and cost-efficiency. 
  • Thorough knowledge of business English. 
  • Excellent etiquette for voice, video, and written communications. 
  • Possesses an intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels. 
  • Experienced to draw on professional judgment and discretion in all communications. 
  • Ability to creatively approach tasks, such as building promotions, establishing professional relationships, and collecting and evaluating metrics and other information to support decision-making about IBC’s marketing strategies. 
  • Supportive skills include planning, managing, communications and presentation, negotiation, networking, and quick learning skills. 
  • Ability to manage projects from ideation to backend analysis independently and as a collaborative team member. 
  • Plan and coordinate multiple marketing priorities with a variety of IBC consumer program relationships. 
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently. 
  • Ability to take direction and to guide others to achieve tasks related to marketing plan implementation. 
  • Has adequate knowledge and experience in marketing or related field.

  • Adherence to compliance-related requirements for communications, including social media. 
  • Ability to discuss compliance issues, trends, and related items in print, speaking, and social media. Support IBC vision, goals, and objectives.   

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:     

  • This position requires the B2C Specialist to work collaboratively with IBC staff on marketing operations. 
  • The B2C Specialist will work on a number of issues, activities, and tasks simultaneously, balance and prioritize actions, and provide timely feedback for decision-making needs.  
  • The B2C Specialist will participate in planning and meeting deadlines while maintaining a flexible work schedule to accomplish the demands of the position. May include occasional long and/or irregular hours.  
  • Travel will include attending and participating in meetings, events, and strategic planning sessions. 
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Probationary Period  

  • Five months of a probationary period will be observed with evaluations conducted by the CEO at month three and month five.
  • Any issues identified during the month three evaluation will be addressed through a two-month plan and will be concluded as a part of the month five evaluation.
