how do continuing education (CE) credits work?

The Idaho Beef Council (IBC) offers a Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Continuing Education (CE) Program to provide certified producers and industry partners with flexible, advanced options for BQA recertification. This program aligns with national standards established by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and allows participants to renew certification without repeating the original course on as frequent of a basis. BQA certification may be renewed through CE beginning after initial certification and up to one year past the certification expiration date. A total of three (3) CE credits is required for recertification. CE credits may be earned through a combination of approved online and in-person trainings. Upon completion of three credits, certification is renewed for three years.

The Continuing Education (CE) Course Approval Request Form is required for any presentation or course seeking Idaho BQA continuing education credit. The requestor must provide basic event details, including contact information, presentation title and topic, length of training (50 minutes of instruction equals one CE credit), venue, audience size, and whether the training is a single or multiple event. The form also asks whether an Idaho BQA Certified Trainer will be present and requires identification of the applicable BQA Pillar(s) covered. All CE trainings must expand beyond basic BQA certification content, either by offering deeper exploration of a core topic or introducing a related advanced subject.
